Description Technical Specs
Classic M65 field jacket - in woodland!
  • This is the most beloved surplus jacket in existence. Well, after the solid green one, anyway.

This was designed in 1965 following lessons learned from the M1951 Cold Weather System. It didn't require much fixing, but they added an integral hood, some cuff extenders, velcro, and a rounded collar. This was a staple of the aesthetics of the Vietnam War, its protests, and its support rallies.

In 1981, the Army got a facelift and made basically everything camo, the M65 included. After 1986, the US Army was fully camo'd out, just in time for the soviets to fall apart. but the woodland M65 remained a staple of northern units and units stationed in Germany.

This jacket, when worn with its liner, its genuinely good down to at least 30 degrees Fahrenheit when standing static. That makes it good with a liner when moving down to almost 0 degrees.

The shell material is a NyCo polin blend. It was originally treated with QuarPel, which is basically scotchguard, but thats probably all gone by this point.

The hood is barely a hood and is more of a windproof bit you put on under your helmet or over a knit wool hat to add a little more warmth.

These are all fantastic condition. The M65 didn't see much practical use since our planned-for war in Eastern Europe never happened. Most of its service was in training or on sentry. These may have some patches, some may be removed, or it may have all of them! That's half the fun of surplus. If there are any holes, they will be minor ones from patch removal. but we will only send those out when we've sent out our nice ones already.
