- Brought to you by the experience of how bad the M36 and M45 suspenders were! And also how the first pattern ones kept falling off the belt!
The M36 and M45 suspenders needed a slip-on set of felt pads to make them comfortable. When designing a new set of field gear after the Korean War, we decided to just... make the pads part of the new suspenders. The fact that they have a yoke design and are wider also helps the wight distribution.
The little square rings on the front are good for clipping things to. Like your compass pouch, the clips on your small arms case, a leash to a very small dog, or the sleeping bag carrier.
The second pattern here has real proper closing hooks on the back and comes in lengths. As it turns out, those midwestern boys tend to be pretty big, so we couldn't just issue them the same size as the short kings.
Extra Long length. Basically the only size marking that is still correct. If you get asked if you play basketball a lot, these are for you! These will fit guys up to like 6'6". These are also the nicest of the bunch.
